I don’t follow MotoGP now however I used to never miss a race when I was younger and followed the sport from the Doohan years through to Stoner championships.

This book is mostly about the riders of that era and is a weighty collection of interviews and trackside reports and editorials from those days.

I didn’t find every chapter interesting but many were and it is such a wide ranging collection I think anyone who watched the racing during those years will find something to interest them.

Prior to all the current electronics and wings and rider communication I found watching the racing much more engaging, something Mat alludes to this in this book, and while I am glad the sport was made safer for me it lost some of the craziness that I found so mesmerising. Of course I am also much older with zero interest in riding fast now which probably is also a factor in my no longer watching racing.

I started reading this book while travelling to my Bhutan ride and only finished it after travelling to my latest ride destination as there is a whopping 84 articles making it well worth the modest e-book price I think.

And despite not having followed MotoGP or SBK for some time I still enjoyed much of this book and think many people who followed the racing of that era will enjoy it too.
