By Andy C Wareing

I was going to wait and read this later but took a peek and then could not stop and ended up reading it though in one day. Which is another way of me saying I enjoyed this book very much and could not put it down.

This is the 2nd of Andy’s books and another extremely well written item.

Andy sees something about Norway and decides on the spot he will ride there. He is hopelessly under equipped for such a journey and sets off having done no research.

I was reminded of when I used to do similar things. I flew to London in 1992 and bought a ex British Post delivery van and drove all over Europe with no clue and (unknowingly) no insurance, equipped with just a simple road atlas, a sleeping bag and gas stove. You can do anything at all when young.

Like the last book I read the excellent North to Norway I again took note of the weather on this ride, actually even more because Andy was at the time not just young but also experienced with cold and wet riding but still found the conditions challenging.

I am putting together a serious bit of kit for my own ride there unlike Andy who had no Gore-Tex or rain gear whatsoever except one of those old PVC one piece rain suits.

I had one of those, actually I’ve owned three over the years and all of them were useless.

I also picked up on how much Andy’s daily ETA could blow out in Norway due to the many ferry crossings. I have reworked my route as much as I can to try reduce those, but ferries are a way of life travelling in Norway.

Oh and I took note to pack some insect repellant after Andy is almost eaten alive.

Once again I am impressed with how well Andy can describe things and wish I had a fraction of his writing skills. It’s quite an adventure and many funny moments as well I found my self nodding my head knowing exactly what Andy was talking about.

There really isn’t a dull moment. A book I recommend without hesitation.
