I went back to one of my favourite areas on Sunday for some more exploring and enjoyable motorcycle riding.
I had two ideas one was to take a look at a new way to ride from Mudgeeraba to Tallebudgera Valley without using the highway. Via Old coach road is what I do now but there is another way looking at Google maps however I got lost on the day in an lovely area called Bonogin. I did work out that you can ride via Austinville to rejoin the Springbrook mountain road at its base via Bonogin. More on both next time.
The other area I wanted to look at was Nunderi in NSW that I posted about a few weeks back. Without any maps I again got a little side tracked however here is some other roads to ride in that general area.
If you came off the old highway (Tweed Valley way) at Condong then ride up Clothiers creek road and Farrants Hill road runs off Clothiers Creek road. Take this and you can loop back to the base of the western side of Nunderi by taking Environ rd, however perhaps just enjoy the view and then at the T junction turn around and go back up the hill.
If you continue down the other side and over the highway then you can turn right and ride the service road, then right into Round Mountain road, then Kanes road and Reserve creek road (shown incorrectly as Cudgera road by Google) then back over the highway on Cudgera creek road. Now join Pottsville road to go to Mooball. Then you could ride back over Burringbah range and perhaps turn off to Stokers Siding. (look at google map before trying this route)
Plenty of options where to go and this is an easy loop if having ridden down over Currumbin range and via Tumbulgum. Alternatively ride it in the opposite direction, as suggested by my ride partner who did exploration of this route the previous weekend.
Another small find I made is Bakers road south of Murwillumbah. From the Tweed valley gallery where I had another nice lunch and excellent ‘Grinders’ brand coffee, continue on Mistral road to ride over to the Kyogle road. I cant believe I have ridden down this and turned off to Stockers siding and never continued over it before. (I think it used to be unsealed ?)
I headed south from Uki to take a look at the Clarrie Hall dam. Its rather large in google maps so I might try the other side for another view as this side has little access.
I wanted to explore some more and had a look at a couple of other interesting roads with rocks near Uki that unfortunately went nowhere before the clouds became a little too threatening so I headed for home via Numimbah valley having come down via Currumbin range.
Some great photos and roads!
Thanks
