An area where outlaws once roamed very similar to the gold rush frontier towns on the other side of the Pacific ocean in - [Two Yamaha’s, One Passion](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2016/10/two-yamahas-one-passion.html) - Besides exploring the world on two wheels I have a few other interests. I dabble in photography and for a long time was interested in architecture. I thought about pursuing a career in that direction but wound up creating computer simulations of train networks instead before deciding to hell with corporate life. So anyway when - [Okinawa](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2017/03/okinawa.html) - I recently went to Okinawa. Japan consists of 47 prefectures or states and this is the only one I had not seen. At nearly 3 hours flying south it is only a little bit less than to the Philippines and quite different to the rest of Japan. Okinawa first appeared on Motorcycle Paradise March 2017 - [Two wheels in Japan](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2014/05/two-wheels-in-japan.html) - I am back on two wheels in Japan. After I sold my Honda CB1100 I had no vehicle in Australia. I had long since sold my car having decided to never own another but I missed my bike almost immediately. Soon I began to think what I might buy in the future, I like naked - [España](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2017/07/espana.html) - I just came across two previously unpublished photo from my ride last year in Spain that for me really captures the feel of riding Andalucía. Incredible roads and landscapes. It’s one place in Europe I will certainly return. Not just for the amazing roads. Great food and wine, friendly people and because technically Spain should - [A misunderstood bike](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2018/05/out-of-pas.html) - Motorcycle #6 My 2003 Buell XB9. Few motorcycles were so misunderstood as Eric Buell’s XB. I had paid no attention to them when launched. A guy I worked with booked a test ride and asked me to come along after our shift. The sales rep said there are two demo bikes would I like to - [Mad Max](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2017/07/mad-max.html) - Motorcycle #2 Dumb arse things, I have done them all. And near the peak of this stupidity I started on motorcycles. I used to ride like I was in a Mad Max movie and wonder now how I survived. With my mate from Alstonville NSW we treated the country roads as a playground and speed - [Japan tour, the B-roll](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2019/06/japan-tour-the-b-roll.html) - Recently I was able to obtain some feedback from the non motorcyclist readers who visit the blog and it was interesting to hear their comments. One suggestion was I include a little more of the off bike things in my travels. Actually this is a good idea as it will encourage me to expand my - [KBC VR2 Helmet](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2006/08/helmets.html) - I bought a new helmet start of 2006, however its turned out to be a disappointment. This is the best looking helmet I have ever seen and I had to have it when I saw them on the net. Great graphics design and everyone says they love the look however the helmet is unfortunately rubbish. - [Shark RSR helmet](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2007/02/shark-rsr-helmet-review.html) - I have had my new helmet out a couple of times now and here is quick review. The finish is very high gloss and looks excellent. First thing you notice is how much lighter it is to older helmets. Shark use a composite shell which is very light. The liner is very plush like found - [Motovation bar ends](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2007/04/review-motivationusa-bar-ends.html) - Ahh inline 4's - silky smooth engines - ahm well not from MV Agusta. Their engine has some of the worst vibrations in the bars that I have ever encountered on any motorcycle. I purchased a pair of over sized extra heavy bar ends to try assist. The ordering was easy, communication excellent and product - [Joe Rocket Meteor boots](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2010/05/joe-rocket-boots-review.html) - I have purchased some new riding footwear and have chosen a pair of Joe Rocket Meteor boots. I decided I wanted to go for a 3/4 boot that was waterproof. Larger than this becomes less easy to walk in and wear under pants. Being waterproof I think is important if touring in a cold place - [Mighty Plugs](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2011/03/mighty-plugs-review.html) - Revised 16.04.2011 and 25.06.2011. Also see updates below. Further update - I stopped using silicon type molded ear plugs and change to "no roll" type foam ear plugs which I find superior. You know I love ear plugs for riding. Besides saving you from hearing loss they greatly reduce rider fatigue. Like most people I - [Motorcycle Roller Stand](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2011/04/motorcycle-roller-stand.html) - A down side to my new exhaust system was they were unable to find a way to keep the centre stand. I probably would never have looked at one of these roller stands if I had not enjoyed the centre stand on the CB so much when cleaning the rear wheel and lubing the chain. - [Shark RSR2 Carbon helmet](https://motorcycleparadise.net/2011/05/shark-rsr2-carbon-helmet-review.html) - Updated 25.06.2011 - Further update Feb 2012. You can find this road on the map below, - [Mount Buffalo VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/mount-buffalo) - This is a superb ride if you can get a car free run up. My tip is if staying nearby then try it first thing when your set off in the morning as that worked for me but by 10.00am it became more busy with 4 wheel drives. It's one way and the very top - [Monaro Highway VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/monaro-highway) - Riding North from Cann River the Monaro Highway is a superb series of sweepers, perhaps one of the best in the state. Unfortunately the road becomes fairly boring once you cross the border. I don't have really any photos of the nice part of the road but some from places nearby. You can find this - [Heyfield to Licola Road VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/heyfield-to-licola-road) - Another side trip ride that is very scenic and plenty of nice curves. You can find this road in the map below, expand it to see the index. - [Tyers to Wahalla VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/tyers-to-wahalla) - First part of this road out to Rawson has good views then nice sweepers. Then to road into the historic Wahalla village is quite tight and twisty. Wahalla is very interesting but can get crazy busy on weekends of public holidays to the point it is not worth visiting then IMO. You can find this - [Strzelecki VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/strzelecki) - The C425 route from Warragul south is a nice ride with rolling hills and plenty of curves. There are a few more nice roads in this Gippsland region as well. See the map below for them, expand it to see the index. - [Black Spur VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/black-spur) - Pretty famous biker road. I found it far too busy with cars to enjoy but the tall trees are scenic and I'm sure it would be nice with a car free run. You can locate this road on the map below, expand it to see the index. - [Bairnsdale Dargo Road VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/bairnsdale-dargo-road-vic) - The ride out to Dargo is both scenic and filled with nice curves. You can find this road in the map below, expand it to see the index. - [Falls Creek VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/falls-creek-vic) - This is another great road in Victoria. Similar to other alpine roads it is windswept at the top but has lots of nice curves. You can find this road in the map below, expand it to see the index. - [Omeo Highway VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/omeo-highway-vic) - Non stop tight corners for 100kms. This is certainly a superb road for riders but for me I found it a bit too much as I prefer a road that flows a little easier but no denying this is one of the top rides in VIC. You can find this road in the map below, - [Lockhart Gap Road, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/lockhart-gap-road-vic) - Bit of a surprise find this as never seen it mentioned before but nice bit of road if heading to the Mitta Mitta. You can find this road in the map below, expand it to full screen to see the index. - [Mt Buller VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/mt-buller-vic) - This road is excellent but is one way and a bit of a detour so I previously skipped it however it is well worth allowing extra time to ride as the range road is quite fun although not much of a view up top. You can find this road in the map below, expand it - [Eildon to Jamison road VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/eildon-to-jamison-road-vic) - I was told about this road in 2016 but it took a while before I got to ride it. Lots of curves and feels fairly remote with little to no traffic. Wish it was not so forested but that is how Aussie roads are. You can find this road on the map below, expand it - [Skyline Drive VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/skyline-drive-vic) - Alexandra to Eildon via the Skyline Drive is a fine ride. Typical Aussie sort of riding with a nice view at Foggs lookout which is just a km of gravel sideroad to reach. You can find this road on the map below, expand to full screen to see index. - [Reefton Spur VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/reefton-spur-vic) - This is a very well know road I think that needs little be said, a fine set of curves, classic Aussie forest road. You can locate this road on the map below, expand to full screen to see the index. - [Tasman Highway TAS](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/tasman-highway-tas) - This is a superb ride with a bit of everything. Nice range, rolling hills, sweepers and historic road side attractions. Sorry I do not have many photos due to the weather. You can find this road on the map below, open it to full screen to see the index. - [Elephant Pass TAS](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/elephant-pass-tas) - A terrific ride which I seem to have lost the photos I had of it so you get some flowers that I took along the route. The southern side is older surveying with some pretty tight corners while the northern side has been modernised. Both are good and nice cafe at the top of the - [Lyell Highway TAS](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/lyell-highway-tas) - Excellent set of curves on the ride over to Strahan. You can find this road on the map below, open it full screen to see the index. - [Hellyer Gorge TAS](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/hellyer-gorge-tas) - The A10 road AKA Hellyer Gorge is a superb motorcycle ride. Fairly tight and closed in as so often is roads in Australia however it still flows well and has a nice feel to it. Open the map below to full screen to see the index and locate this road. - [Mole Creek and Mt Roland TAS](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/mole-creek-and-mt-roland-tas) - There is a nice ride along the B12 and C138 that offers a bit of very everything. Nice scenery, historic old rail corridor and famous pub as well as plenty of curves. You can find this road and others on the map below. Open it to a new page to see the index. - [Nymboida, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-roads-in-nsw-3) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Stokers Siding, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-motorbike-roads-26) - I used to ride the back roads via Stokers Siding to connect from Uki to Burringbah or to skip the Tweed valley way from Burringbah into Murwillumbah. From Uki you take Smiths creek road and from Stokers siding you take Stokers road which leads onto Bakers road and you can take that to ride to - [The Manning Valley, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-2) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Gwydir Highway, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-gwydir) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Copeton dam, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-copeton-dam) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Sofola and Hill End, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/japan-motorcycle-tour-3) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Wyangala, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/wyangala) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [The Tablelands Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/tableland-way) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Wee Jasper, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/japan-motorcycle-tour-2) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Yarra Ranges, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/yarra-ranges) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Bonang Road, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/delegate) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Warrumbungles Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/tour-2009-update) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Sapphire Coast Highway, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/japan-motorcycle-tour-4) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Comboyne Road, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/cutting-corners) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Bylong Valley Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/bylong-valley-way) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Old Mt Lindsey Highway, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/japan-motorcycle-tour) - The Mt Lindsey highway west beyond Woodenbong used to be rubbish. Terrible pot holes and patch work quilt repairs with the road buckled or sunken in places. And then you hit the gravel section which was never graded and all wash board corrugations. In 2016 I rode it west after Queen Mary falls and found - [Mount Kosciuszko, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-snowy) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Springbrook Mountain, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-no1) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Beechmont Mountain, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-3) - Beechmont once upon a time used to be poor surface and I rarely saw another bike up there but then it was upgraded and became one of the most popular rides on the south side. There are superb views over the Gold Coast and then also to the west. Green dairy fields and you can - [Kenilworth, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-7) - West from Maleny is another nice ride down the range then over to Conondale then on up to Kenilworth. There are cafes and a pub there and this makes a good destination for a Sunday ride. It tended to get hot there and anywhere west of the hills so I did not go there too - [Currumbin Valley, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-10) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Palmwoods, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-11) - There is a fun little ride you can do from Mapelton to Palmwoods. Descend down towards Nambour and turn right into Dulong road. Once at the bottom you need to remember turn right and right again at the 2 T- junctions to get to Palmwoods. Take a look at my map the road changes name - [Beaudesert - Boonah, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-12) - The Beaudesert to Boonah road used to be the domain of cruisers then at some point the race suit crowd came to make it their home but no idea now days as been awhile. I never rode this much as I always would be going further south or west and this road never seemed to - [Mt Lindsey, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-13) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Summerland Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-14) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Clyde Mountain, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-clyde) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Four Mountains of Bega, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/four-mountains) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Obi Obi, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-25) - Obi Obi. That's Kenilworth to Mapelton not some Star Wars character. If you have ridden Maleny to Kenilworth then you likely will ride this next as part of the loop. There is some open road then a steep climb that has divided road which is a lot of fun. The descent was gravel last time - [Federal to Clunes, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-motorbike-roads-27) - More back roads which you need to look at my map to work out if not a local. From the town of Federal T junction turn right if riding the Federal road otherwise ride straight on if you have come over Coolamon scenic drive, both are good routes. Lots of easy sweeping corners to enjoy - [Mt Panorama, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-snowy-3) - The Mount Panorama race circuit is a public road and I think any Australian will enjoy to ride around here having seen the famous race to then see the track in real life will delight and surprise because it is much steeper and tighter than the cameras make out. But there is also great roads - [Bruxner Highway, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-roads-in-nsw-2) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Queen Mary Falls, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-motorcycle-roads-28) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Alpine Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/best-motorcycle-roads-in-australia-8) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Lake Moogerah, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-near-brisbane-31) - I enjoyed going west many mornings turning onto the Ipswich-Boonah road. Take this out to Peak Crossing then turn right onto Kalbar-Peak Crossing-Munbilla road for some great views of the scenic rim in the morning sun. After this turn towards Lake Moogerah road but before you get there detour via Charlwood road west for the - [Boonah, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-near-brisbane-32) - There are a few scenic roads either side of Boonah, Lake Moogerah is covered elsewhere but riding over to Maroon is nice and the roads that skirt Mt Barney offer scenic vistas I used to enjoy visiting. Early on winters day is the best for the mountain view but other times of day highlight interesting - [Darlington, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-near-brisbane-33) - I used to ride this as an alternative to the highway when coming back from Mt Lindsey or Queen Marys falls. After the town of Rathdowney (which I have been to the original in Ireland) you come to Tamrookum and can turn off to Hill end. Check the map below but there are a few back - [Biddaddaba, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/biddaddaba) - Or Yabba Dabba (Do) as said Fred. Here is another side road and area I like to ride sometimes. Between Canungra and Beaudesert you can turn off here. Google maps never showed this as connecting but it does via Tabragalba road which joins back onto the Beaudesert-Nerang road for a nice detour. Sorry lost my other photos. - [West Haldon, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-34) - I love finding new roads that are enjoyable to ride, be it scenic or curves and never understood people riding the same bits of tar every Sunday. West Haldon is on the Clifton-Gatton road that runs between Gatton and Allora. There are a couple of ways you might do a loop out there. The road - [Tullebudgera Creek, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-35) - This like Terranora is really just a side trip but could be a nice to do after Currumbin valley or add it on after riding from Murwillumbah and turning onto the Tullebudgera Connection road if you had some time to spare. It is nice surface, good curves and pleasant riding on a fine day. You can - [Uki, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-9) - Always a favourite ride this is perhaps the best road on the NSW side of the border ranges having been upgraded and resurfaced a number of times. Smooth sweeping curves from the Tweed river to Cawongla where the old road returns and I prefer to turn onto Rock valley but nothing wrong with riding ahead either. - [Somerset Dam, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-21) - Somerset Dam is a popular part of a northern loop north from Brisbane or a turnaroundpoint for riders who have ridden Mt Glorious. There is petrol and small storenear the dam, in the other direction riders go into Fernvale for fuel and the bakery. I had stopped riding this area but it is nice and - [O'Reilly's, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-17) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [The Lions Road, QLD/NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-19) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Terranora, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-37) - I guess this is more a small side trip but if riding to or from the Tumbulgum pub or Duranbah then turn off onto Hogans road to Terranora. It starts narrow but opens and climbs to a ridge with some nice views and you could at the time of writing explore to higher vantage point - [Binna Burra, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-39) - I always seemed to forget Binna Burra. I often rode up to Lower Beechmont, occasionally the entire Mount Beechmont road but rarely to Binna Burra which is odd as it had a great cafe and excellent views of which I have just this one old photo. I have removed the original post as it was - [Murray Valley highway, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-murray-2) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Whitfield, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads_29) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Tumbulgum, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-36) - The Tumbulgum pub replaced the Uki pub as my favourite for lunch so I used to ride this road often. Then I usually went home via Numinbah valley having ridden over the Currumbin range on my way south. You can locate this road on the map, expand to see the list. These ‘good road’ posts - [Waterfall Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-roads-in-australia-5) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Brown Mountain, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-roads-in-australia-7) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Murray River Road, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-murray) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [The Oxley Highway, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-20) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Great Ocean Road, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-gor) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Nunderi to Duranbah, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-roads-40-tweed-valley) - Nunderi is east of Murwillumbah. There is a series of roads that run along the ridges which are fun to ride and have nice views over the cane fields and off to the border ranges than to the ocean further north. You can actually ride from Mooball all the way to Tumbulgum on back roads - [Great Alpine Road, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-gar) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Thunderbolts Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-roads-in-nsw-4) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Kangaroo Valley, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-roads-in-australia-6) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Wooton Way, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-3) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Putty Road, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/best-motorcycle-roads-in-australia-9) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Bells line of road, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-bells) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Snowy Mountains Highway, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-snowy-2) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Wisemans ferry, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads) - Not sure why I originally combined these two areas, I posted this on my way back from the Moto-GP in 2006 not really knowing Sydney roads. I still don't know them well. On the map you can see more roads in the area as supplied by local riders and when I can return I will - [Tawonga Gap, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/australias-best-motorcycle-roads-alpine) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Old Northern Road + Eatons Crossing + Clear Mountain, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-37-2) - My favourite way to escape Brisbane CBD north was via Old Northern Rd, then Eatons Crosing road, then the excellent twisty Clear Mountain road then onto Winn Rd to arrive at the road to Dayboro already past Samford. A great way to start any Sunday morning ride. You can locate this road on the map, - [Campbells Pocket, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/good-motorcycle-rides-41-campbells) - Campbells Pocket lies between Mt Mee and Wamuran. The road while narrow in a few parts has a bit of everything to offer. Some sweepers followed by a steep ascent and then a mix of corners and even a different view of the Glass House Mountains if lucky. You can locate this road on the - [Ulong, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/ulong) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Batlow Road, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/batlow) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Urbenville, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/more-side-roads) - South of Queen Mary Falls I used to ride on to Tooloom lookout and the back road into Urbenville for fuel and lunch at the pub or sometimes I would wind up here if I did a loop of Mount Lindsey and Lions road as Woodenbong back then had nothing opening on weekend. I hear - [Bunya Mountain, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/bunya-mountain) - The Bunya mountains are about as far as I would ride north from Brisbane but well worth the effort. I came via Yarraman and from Maidenwell there was a very steep climb with excellent views. The western side was narrow the southern side reasonable road, bit uneven but plenty of curves. Nothing much up the - [Falls Creek, VIC](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/falls-creek) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Maleny QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-6) - There is a road called Booroobin Rd which then becomes Maleny-Stanley River Rd and bikers used to call it the hidden road, but anyway it is the popular route to Maleny after Woodford and was my favourite of all the north side roads. I used to enjoy the way the road has the series of - [Numinbah (and Tyalgum), QLD/NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-8) - The Numinbah valley road is one of my all time favourite rides, and I think many bikers in the region would say the same. I moved to riding in Northern NSW for most of my last years in the area. I liked the scenery and roads better and QLD had become too anti motorcycle. On - [Burringbah Range, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-16) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Billinudgel to Federal, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-18) - There was a back road route I used to like using the old pacific highway (Tweed Valley Way) service roads down to Biilinudgel then you can ride the Tunnel road to Coolamon scenic drive to Mullumbimby then on to Coorabell where you take road of same name to Federal. From here there are a few - [Goonengerry to Eltham, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/nsw-hidden-roads-part-3-eltha) - Near the village of Federal is the district of Goonengerry and here starts Repentence creek road. Along this road if you have ADV bike is the Minyon falls, gravel but not hard for any bike. There are two choices then south to Clunes via Rosebank and Eureka or on via Corndale. You could also ride - [The Channon, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/channon) - Dunoon to Nimbin via The Channon is another route that used to be gravel but once sealed became a nice ride. From The Channon you can ride on to Turntable creek and make a detour to Mount Nardi then on to Nimbin. Good for people who like to explore, less for people who want to - [Stoney Chute, NSW](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/stoney-chute) - To or from Nimbin are a number of decent roads, the original north has been under repair for a decade but this side road which used to be rough was sealed and makes for good alternative. The header is someones private driveway, lots of media stars and millionaires have their weekend retreats in this area - [The Gillies Highway, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/best-motorcycle-roads-in-australia-10) - The best motorcycle roads in Australia - [Crows Nest, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-23) - You can locate this road on the map, expand to see the list. These ‘good road’ posts were published 2006-2008. At some point the original images and descriptions became out of date and I moved overseas. I archived them here to update when I ride Australia again. This collection is just my own personal riding - [Bald Knob, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/great-bike-roads-24-repos) - I used to like riding this road just for the view, the surface originally was a bit bumpy in parts however at some point is was resurfaced and if you have ridden up to Maleny then seems a obvious choice for different route on the way back. You can locate this road on the map, - [Balingup to Nannup, WA](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/balingup-to-nannup) - Probably the best ride in WA as far as curves go. Plenty of them and not much traffic. But there is plenty to enjoy visiting the West and despite not lots of curves some grand scenery. - [Daintree to Cape Tribulation, QLD](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/daintree-to-cape-tribulation) - Quite a nice ride from the ferry north to Cape Tribulation. Small but scenic mountain range then lush rainforest and many beaches. If you are in the far north then try to include this in your. Riding further north you will be on the Bloomfield track. This is gravel with a couple of river crossings - [Brisbane’s Best Motorcycle Roads](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/brisbanes-best-motorcycle-roads) - I decided to retire the old list because I no longer live in the area to update condition of the roads, which cafes have best food and other info - however my map below remains current. Open in new tab to see list of roads. The separate road posts are archived in the blog section - [Gold Coast’s Best Motorcycle Roads](https://motorcycleparadise.net/project/gold-coasts-best-motorcycle-roads) - I decided to retire the old list because I no longer live in the area to write about the condition of the roads or which cafes have best food. More info about how to ride Japan is available elsewhere in the blog but here is the largest archive of Japan motorcycle ride reports in English. - [Australian Motorcycle Roads Archive](https://motorcycleparadise.net/category/roadarchive) - An archive of pages from my old blogs. Before the Top 100 rides atlas and Google maps there weren’t many resources for where to ride. I started posting nice roads to my home page then in 2006 launched Motorcycle Paradise and expanded that as I toured the eastern states. I’m not in the country anymore to refresh info about their condition or which pubs have the best counter meals so the descriptions have been deleted until such time I might return. - [Europe](https://motorcycleparadise.net/category/europe) - Motorcycle travels in Norway, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, UK, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Slovenia, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. - [The Americas](https://motorcycleparadise.net/category/americas) - Motorcycle tours in USA, Canada, Mexico and Colombia - [Western Asia & Middle East](https://motorcycleparadise.net/category/middleeast) - Motorcycle travels in Oman, UAE, Türkiye and Georgia. - [Africa](https://motorcycleparadise.net/category/africa) - A very eventful tour of South Africa and Lesotho.
